Growing
up in the high Sierra Nevada mountains of eastern California left Reuben with a
foundation of wilderness expertise that has been continually augmented
ever since he left home as a young man. Beginning in 1988, Reuben
worked as an Emergency Medical Technician with Aegis Ambulance and Symons
Emergency Specialties in Bishop, California for nearly three years, and served briefly on the Inyo County
Sheriff's Posse Search and Rescue Team. From 1990 to 1994, he served on active
duty in the US Navy with an anti-submarine/search-and-rescue helicopter
squadron (HS-7) aboard the three aircraft carriers: USS John F Kennedy, USS Kittyhawk, and USS
Dwight D Eisenhower. While in the Navy, Reuben served
in-theater in both the first Persian
Gulf War and in the Balkans conflict. |

After receiving an honorable discharge in 1994, Reuben attended the
University of Wisconsin--Madison where he earned a degree in Geology and
Geophysics with an emphasis on sedimentology and planetary sciences.
Currently, Reuben is
a graduate student at Auburn University.
He is an active member in the Planetary Society,
the National Space Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Geological
Society of America, Divers Alert Network (DAN), and the Wilderness Medical Society. As one of
his numerous hobbies, he authors and maintains this web site. |
