Blowing sand and dust is very common while doing fieldwork --
especially since you'll be working with others.
If you wear contacts or
suffer allergies, eye drops should be considered an essential part of
your field gear
(see your doctor first).
Eye drops may be the only thing that saves the day's scheduled work if
you fail to wear
eye
protection.
Always check the expiration date and check the fluid to make sure it's
clear and colorless. Cloudy fluid indicates the presence of
bacterial contamination -- more common in bottles that have already been
opened.
Tip:
Avoid wearing contacts in the field. They're a real problem while digging or on windy days.

A small bottle of eye drops in your first-aid kit can be invaluable.
Even better are the one-use vials now available at most grocery stores. |
