Along Road Cuts and... |

Hunting Season |

If you're going to be in the field during one or
some of the numerous
hunting
seasons, be SURE to wear a fluorescent orange
vest or hat so that you're more likely to be seen by the hunters. These are
also great while working on
highway road cuts -- many of which are on blind
corners. Orange vests can be
purchased at most bicycle stores. |

True Story: While
several geologists were working a road cut in Belize, a diesel truck hauling
cane sugar at highway speed passed within two feet of the group. None of
the geologists were wearing orange vests, it was late in the day, the driver was
likely tired and probably didn't even see the people along the road. It's
amazing no one was killed. |
